FAQ
Common Questions
Is it safe to reset my own breaker?
Once, yes — with dry hands, standing on dry ground, pushing firmly to OFF then ON. What’s not safe is resetting the same breaker over and over: it’s tripping for a reason, and repeated resets overheat the wiring it’s protecting.
My power is out but the breaker panel looks fine. How?
Three common causes: a tripped GFCI feeding downstream outlets, a failed connection inside a device box (very common with backstabbed outlets), or a lost utility leg. The first you can fix yourself — the tool above walks you through it.
When is an outage an emergency?
Any outage with burning smells, heat, or buzzing at the panel; a main breaker that won’t hold; or partial power with lights glowing dim/bright (possible lost neutral — it destroys appliances). Those are call-now situations, any hour.
